Improve performance when loading multi-layer flash shapes

Created: 03/Jun/08 06:49 PM   Updated: 09/Jun/09 01:06 PM
Component/s: Core - Shapes - User Interface
Affects Version/s: Gliffy Premium - Improved UI Symbol Release
Fix Version/s: Gliffy Online SWF10-B
Security Level: Anyone may view

 Description  « Hide
For some reason, loading in multi-layer flash shapes takes a long time, and you can 'see' the layers load one at a time.

This can likely be improved.

We should investigate to make sure that:

1 - Multi-layer symbols are being loading in a single asset, not multiple assets
2 - If it's unavoidable to load the multi-layer shapes in a manner where you see the layers load, then we should load the layers off screen, and then pop them into view. This would be similar to double buffering.

I think after discussing this, we should look into option #2, since we can't get around option #1

As per our discussion, we need to do some R&D to figure out how we can combine the symbols into a single SWF asset.
