Apple and Microsoft often give users the option to send 'crash reports' to their respective companies when their software crashes. This is helpful for discovering new issues or bugs present in their software.

We should do something similar. For us, if an error shows up in the Battlestar logger, we could give the user to option to send errors to Gliffy HQ.

Another idea would be to provide an option in our Gliffy config settings. This might actually be better because it would enable us to see ALL errors for a particular instance of a customer. It would enable more real-time monitoring of errors that our customers see, and would not require the user to 'opt in' for every error.

Shannon,

Can you please look into this?

I'd like to add a new Configuration to the Gliffy Admin Screen which enables customers to have crash logs emailed to us.

The configuration on the admin page should be: 'Automatically Email Gliffy Errors to Gliffy HQ:'. There should be two radio buttons: 'Yes', and 'No'.

The destination email address should be: 'cp-errors@gliffy.com'

Consider this for 1.5.0

Possible simpler solution:
  • In the admin configuration you can define the email address that support requests get sent to when using the send support request admin function. We could create some instructions for the user guide for admins that want to send us support requests on how to change this support email address (and change it back) so they can use the current form to send us an email with the system information and logs.
